Wii – 使用“备份游戏光盘”手册

此手册是以US-NTSC, 3.3U版的Wii为根据编写的。

此手册不适用于3.4或以上版本。

编者对因以下步骤所可能造成的一切损害概不负责。

准备以下工具:
Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess原版游戏光盘。
SD卡 (2GB以下, 以FAT16 或 FAT32 格式化) 。
SD 读卡器。

1. 事前准备
a. 在PC上，把twilight-hack-v0.1-beta1.zip，the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz和backuplauncher0.3_gamma.zip解压到SD卡。把不相关的文件删除。SD卡最后应有以下文件目录：


2. 安装HBC
a. 把SD卡插入Wii上的卡槽。
i. 使用Wii的“Data Management”工具，把SD卡上的TP游戏存档拷贝到系统里（右至左）。注意此操作将覆写系统上原有的TP游戏存档。所以如要保留原TP游戏存档，必须在此操作之前把存档从系统里拷贝出来。
b. 把Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess原版游戏光盘植入，启动游戏。
i. 载入游戏存档。
ii. 游戏在玩家与第一个NPC交谈后崩溃，进而启动HBC安装程序。
iii. 依照屏幕上的指示安装HBC。安装完毕后系统自动重启。
c. 重启后应可在主目录看到Homebrew Channel。

3. 安装Backup Launcher
a. 点击主目录下的“Homebrew Channel”以启动HBC。
b. 在HBC目录下，应有“Backup Launcher”和“cIOS Installer”两项。
c. 点击启动“cIOS Installer”，依照指示安装cIOS。注意执行此步骤须有网络连接。安装完毕后系统自动重启。
d. 重启后再回到HBC目录启动“Backup Launcher”。
e. 放入游戏拷贝光，使用 “Load game” 载入游戏。

注意：
目前并非所有游戏拷贝光盘都可以用WiiGator Backup Launcher v0.3 gamma载入。可在此确认已测试过的游戏。

备份DVD光盘的质量是光盘可读性的非常关键之一。光盘也必须以低速拷制，如2x或4x。目前还不支援双层（Double layer）DVD光盘。

There're already countless how to out there on Wii homebrew, cIOS and backup launcher.
There's no point reproducing them here. Google knows the way.

The latest Wiigator backup launcher 0.3 gamma seems to fix lots of issues and have great compatibility.

ISO dump from original disc required a few specific drive.
Disc burned on DVD-R, 4x should work. (There are many discussion on Disc Read Error 324 etc though. Quality of disc seems to be mattered alot).
- A1-pro DVD-R, 4x - read ok, load slow, Wii making strange noise.
- Imation DVD-R, 4x - read ok, load smooth.
- Sony DVD-R, 16x (burnt at 4x) - read ok, at least 1 occurrence of disc read error (324)

OpenSUSE 11.0 system update problem

To resolve: "Failed to update system: Authorisation could not be obtained"

Need to configure PolicyKit.
in /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf, to allow everything for user xxx

Shutdown XP Faster

These tips are gather around the net. I don't claim credit for them.
Put here just for quick future reference.

1. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown value to 0

Under [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
Or, using Group Policy Editor [for XP Professional]

Click Start, Run and type Secpol.msc
Click Local Policies | Security Options
In the right-pane, set Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile to Disabled

2. Set the following to 1000
WaitToKillAppTimeout [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
HungAppTimeout [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
WaitToKillAppTimeout [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]

Set AutoEndTasks [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\] to 1.
While doing this method make sure HungAppTimeout > WaitToKillAppTimeout.
